How to test a Figma prototype with real users
A Figma prototype answers a simple question: do people understand how to move forward? To find out, you have to put it in the hands of real users and watch what they do, not just what they say. DASHUND turns your prototype into analytics: paths, heatmaps, drop-offs and sessions, with no code and no tasks for your testers.
In three steps
- Publish from Figma. The DASHUND plugin freezes a version of the file and puts the prototype live.
- Share a link. One link per audience (newsletter, client, test panel) to compare how they behave.
- Read the results. Sessions show up a few seconds after each visit.
What you measure
- Completion rate: how many people reach the goal screen, or every checkpoint.
- The Flow: the paths people actually took, screen by screen, and where they left the prototype.
- Target paths: how a funnel converts (cart, sign-up, onboarding) and which step loses the most people.
- Heatmaps: where people click on each screen, including clicks on elements that don’t respond.
- Sessions: the details of every visit, to understand a drop-off.
- Compare and A/B tests: two versions, or two audiences, side by side.
Every view is detailed on the Features page, and step-by-step guides are in Resources.
Moderated testing, unmoderated testing, analytics: which one?
| Method | What it gives you | Limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Moderated interview | The why, live, with a few people | Few participants, time spent moderating |
| Unmoderated test with tasks | Answers to specific instructions | The instructions steer the journey |
| Prototype analytics (DASHUND) | The natural behavior of many people, in numbers | Shows where and how many; interviews explain why |
